Dr. Os Steward elected as incoming President of the Society for Neuroscience
A Great Honor
The Society for Neuroscience (SfN) was founded in 1969 by a small committee led by Ralph Gerard, who had moved to UCI the year the campus was launched in 1964. Dr. Gerard became honorary President when SfN was founded. Os is the 4th SFN President (out of 52) from the UCI faculty.
SfN now has more than 36,000 members in more than 95 countries. Year-round programming includes the publishing of two highly regarded scientific journals, the Journal of Neuroscience and eNeuro; professional development resources and career training through Neuronline¸ the Society’s home for learning and discussion; science advocacy and public policy engagement including annual Capitol Hill Day; and a variety of engaging public outreach efforts, led by the expanding and interactive collection of public-facing resources on BrainFacts.org
SfN exists to:

- Support the neuroscience community
- Educate and engage the public
- Advocate for the field
